Christmasaurus: Volume 4 was recorded very hastily, between some time in very late November and December 14th of 2009.

The subtitle for this should really have been something cheesy like "Holiday Rush."

This is the 4th installment (obviously...) in the [almost] annual Christmasasaurus compilation series, which began as the brain child of m@ the c@ (Bubblegum Octopus, c@, Frame House, Ultra Death Men, etc) and Dingle (Peppermint Pony, Mother Bored, etc.) in 2005.

[There was no 2007 compilation due to extraneous factors]

In 2008, Phil (A Beautiful Lotus) joined the two to co-host the compilation and help organize it, and returned again this year to aid the process once more.

The compilation began with the hopes of perpetuating the necessary (but often overlooked in post-childhood life) feelings of human happiness, and giddiness about the holiday season...

it also looks to make you mis-spell and butcher the name when you're trying to say it out loud:

Christ-mas-uh-sore-us

NOT

Christ-mas-or-us.

NOR

Christ-mas-uh-sore-us-is

The second one is far too logical and the third one is too impractical.

What are you... crazy??

This compilation is in no way affiliated with Christianity or any other religious group, and does not promote consumerism, over-commercialization, lying to children, or any of the other things people whine about this time of year.

The compilation represents and promotes the idea that Christmas time should be celebrated and embraced by all for the simple fact that, regardless of your social status, race, religion, gender, or outlook on life, it's okay for you to do your best to set aside your qualms, anxieties, and disdains to be happy if not just for one week of the year.

It's not about pretending nothing is wrong or ignoring your problems. It's about giving you peace of mind for the benefit of your health and those around you.

It just so happens that a time with colder weather, colored lights, widespread celebrating for various reasons, and the end of another year is the most appropriate feeling time.

This may or may not be congruous with how each artist on the compilation feels about Christmas, but it is the way I myself feel (me = m@ the c@) and I am one half of the people responsible for this compilation's existence!

------

As is typical Christmasasaurus tradition, multiple artists chose the same song and there was no way to get everyone to know what songs had been taken before they were submitted.

NEXT YEAR WE'LL GET IT RIGHT!!!

Alternate version: NEXT YEAR WE'LL ALL COVER ROCKIN' AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE. IT'S MANDATORY!

--------------Personal note from m@ the c@-------------

All of the artists on this compilation have done a really good job this year, as always, and I really want to thank them for being so diligent about keeping me updated and sending the songs, many of which were actually sent to me in the exact file formats I asked for!!

I honestly appreciate your efforts, in whatever capacity you made them.

I know it's weird to be approached about doing something so conceptual, so absurd, and so counter-counter-culture, but I'm really glad that for four of the past five years, there have been enough people in the extreme/experimental/underground/mostly electronic "scenes" I'm loosely affiliated with who have shown interest in taking Dingle and I up on the offer.

This year the odds were really stacked against us to get this completed before Christmas.

Dingle has been very busy and was barely able to contribute, Phil is busier than I thought, and I myself have been probably busier than I ever have.

I was actually a bit scared to ask if the compilation was going to happen since I waited so long to address it... In spite of all this though, the compilation has gone over quite possibly better than it ever has before and it makes me look forward, happily knowing that the more it continues to grow in quality and size, the more goodness can come out of it.

Years don't even feel complete anymore if they don't end with a fine Krampusnacht, Christmas cheer, and  an even better than the year before Christmasasaurus.

Let me take the time to also make note that there were a lot of fantastic artists who were asked to join and agreed to become a part of the temporary team, but for various reasons had to throw in the proverbial towel before the deadline.

While it saddens me to think how much better it could still have been, I appreciate to no end any amount of work that went into unfinished songs and I hope you can salvage this year's efforts for something to release on your own or for next year's compilation.

I hope that some day I can meet all of you/play with all of you/etc that I haven't already!
